The Spyderco Ladybug is a keychain-sized lock-blade folding knife that “punches well above its weight” when it comes to cutting performance.
SPY27
This elite expression of the Ladybug takes that performance to the next level with a blade crafted from CPM SPY27. Exclusive to Spyderco, this American-made powder metallurgy stainless steel offers an incredible balance of properties. The full-flat-ground blade of this knife takes full advantage of those qualities and showcases them with a sturdy back lock mechanism and a cobalt blue fiberglass-reinforced-nylon (FRN) handle with a non-slip Bi-Directional Texture pattern.
K390
K390 is a high-alloy particle metallurgy tool steel enriched with high volumes of vanadium, tungsten and cobalt. Produced by Böhler-Uddeholm, its advanced alloy composition offers exceptional edge retention and toughness and makes it an ideal choice for steel connoisseurs.
This remarkable expression of the Ladybug is the first in a special series of Spyderco knives to supercharge the proven features of well-established models with this elite, high-performance steel. To make these K390-bladed knives even more unique, their injection-molded FRN handles will feature a distinctive blue handle color.
Notes
Spyderco has long been the king of 2-finger sized knives with their long-running Ladybug (and more recent Manbug) series. You get the same high quality materials and construction you're used to with their Japanese-made models but just in a smaller package. They are a bit pricey but you would be hard pressed to find another other competitors offering the same high performance blades in such small packages.
Also worth noting is that these are intended to be keychain knives, hence the lack of clip. If you also use these on your keychain, the rest of your keys form the back half of the grip so it actually feels like you're holding a bigger knife with just enough blade to open that box or stubborn packaging.
